Bath, Maine (January 11, 2008) - Pine Tree Camp is pleased to announce the addition of a third camping session for children with physical and developmental disabilities.  This means there are 90 more openings for campers between the ages of eight and 18.

“Over the past couple of years, Pine Tree Camp’s waiting lists for both adult and children’s sessions have grown dramatically,” said Dawn Willard-Robinson, Director of Program Group of Pine Tree campersManagement at Pine Tree Camp.  “In an effort to ensure that we are able to serve more campers, we have altered our summer schedule.  We are very excited to be able to meet the needs of more children and adults with disabilities and their families.  The change in schedule also allows us to build in more essential training time for our staff.”

Pine Tree Camp has been providing a traditional summer camp experience to Maine children and adults with disabilities since 1945.  This special place is fully adapted to meet the special needs of each individual camper.

Pine Tree Camp provides children with disabilities opportunities to participate in a variety of traditional summer camp activities including adaptive kayaking, outdoor games, hiking on accessible nature trails, swimming, boating and fishing.  During their stay, campers are able to experience new activities, grow and increase their sense of success in a safe, barrier free environment.  Maybe most importantly, campers have the opportunity to connect with their peers who are facing the same day-to-day challenges.

For families, Pine Tree Camp means a 6-day respite.  Family members can rest easy knowing that their child is in a safe, loving environment.  And with Pine Tree Camp’s Open Door Policy, families can send their child to Pine Tree Camp regardless of their ability to pay the $1,330 tuition.

Applications are now available.  For more details and to download an application, please click here.  Campers are enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis.
