Pine Tree Society’s audiologist participates in first Women in Audiology conference
Bath, Maine -- Robin L. Galleher, MSPA-A, CCC-A, of Pine Tree Society in Bath was one of the 250 leading women in the field of audiology to participate in the first nation Women in Audiology Conference, held July 13-15 in Palm Coast, Florida. The unique forum, sponsored by Oticon, Inc., featured a series of educational sessions led by outstanding women in business and audiology.
The two-day conference addressed the challenges and rewards facing women in hearing care with an emphasis on patient care and counseling. “Women in caring professions such as audiology and health care bring a well-developed sense of empathy to the patient experience,” stated Galleher. “The conference helped us to see how we could best utilize our strengths to benefit our patients and increase their success and satisfaction with their hearing care solutions.”
Galleher pointed out that practitioners who are attuned to patients’ individual desires and preferences are better able to positively engage the patient in choosing the best solution for their particular hearing and lifestyle needs. “Helping people with hearing loss see the value and benefits of the many advanced hearing solutions now available is critical to a successful experience,” explained Galleher.
As director of Pine Tree Society’s Audiology program, Galleher has been at the forefront of audiological advances and has consistently been among the first to introduce the newest hearing technologies to the Midcoast area. She was one of the first hearing care professionals in Maine to offer the new Oticon Epoq, a breakthrough hearing device that for the first time enables people with hearing loss to wirelessly connect their hearing instruments to mobile phones, computers and home entertainment systems. “Hearing solutions have changed dramatically over the past few years,” she noted. “Keeping pace with these changes and the way they can benefit people with hearing loss enables Pine Tree Society to bring the latest audiological advances and the newest hearing solutions to our patients.”
