Talk with any parent of a child with autism and the topic of life after high school is sure to come up. Parents aren’t the only ones who worry about that next stage in life; transition to adulthood is stressful for teens with autism as well.
We’re here to help teens build the skills they need for a successful future. Our Autism Transition Program bridges the gap between high school and adulthood in an engaging, supportive environment. Through a variety of fun social activities outside of the school environment, participants have an opportunity to:
- Connect with peers who share similar challenges
- Discover new abilities in center and community-based settings
- Explore vocational interests through workplace visits and community service
- Express emotions and develop skills that promote a healthy mind, body and spirit
The Autism Transition Program is offered through Transition Skill Builder sessions. Each session has a different theme. Based on personal preferences, participants may choose to attend one session – or all. Skill Builders meet each Tuesday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. for a six week period.
