Douglas Newton, Director of Interpreting Services, a program of Pine Tree Society, has earned a national specialty certification in legal interpreting administered by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. (RID).
“The certification demonstrates Pine Tree Society’s commitment to continuing education and achieving the highest level of specialization and expertise,” said Anne Marsh, Executive Director of the statewide organization.
Newton is one of just four sign language interpreters in Maine with the certification demonstrating knowledge and expertise in handling specialized, complex legal information.
RID is a national membership organization of professionals who provide sign language interpreting/transliterating services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing persons.
