Pine Tree Society showcases holiday card artwork on website
A new spin on and old tradition, the organization’s holiday cards campaign has been supporting programs for people with disabilities for 40 years
BATH, Maine (July 7, 2009) – Each year around this time, Pine Tree Society’s Bath office begins to resemble an art gallery. That’s because about 50 noted artists from all corners of Maine and beyond send their paintings to Pine Tree Society to be in the running to become one of the Society’s beloved holiday cards.
According to Executive Director Anne Marsh, it’s a tradition that began 40 years ago.
“Since 1969, the holiday cards have been a major source of revenue that supports Pine Tree Society’s services for Maine people with disabilities,” said Marsh. “Every card purchased will help Maine children and adults with disabilities to be to live fuller, richer lives.”
This year, the Society decided to put a twist on the tradition and create an on-line gallery in which to share the beautiful works our art.
“We invite everyone to visit our website and take a look at the artwork,” said Marsh. “We’d love to hear feedback and comments from our visitors."
Pine Tree Society will choose two paintings to become the 2009 holiday cards. Cards can be ordered starting August 1 and will begin shipping to customers in September.
Holiday cards may be ordered securely on Pine Tree Society’s website. Holiday cards may also be ordered by calling (207) 443-3341 or they may be purchased at the Society’s 149 Front Street location in Bath.
