Auburn, Maine -- Classic cars of all ages along with welding and metalwork skills will be on display at the 4th Annual New England School of Metalwork Car Show & Welding Demonstrations on Saturday, October 10 at welding supplier Maine Oxy, 22 Albiston Way (formerly Adams St.) in Auburn.

This year there will be trophies for best classic cars from the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and even more recent models, plus special prizes for Best Paint, Best Interior, Best Truck, Best Ford, Best Chevy, Best Import, Best Work in Progress, Best Street Rod and The Best in Show, awarding First Place and Second Place finishers. Gates will be open to the public at 7:30 a.m., free admission, with music and refreshments throughout the day. Festivities will wind down after the presentation of trophies for winning autos in several categories at 1:00 p.m.

“As we have seen in previous years, “These older classic and slick newer cars are excellent examples of what welding and metalwork can do,” comments Dan Guerin, president of Maine Oxy, hosting the event. “It’s fun to see them all in one place!”

Meanwhile from 9:00 a.m. until noon there will be demonstrations of welding and metalwork skills and equipment at the New England School of Metalwork on the same grounds along with the Mobile Weld Training Center, a state-of-the-art welding school on wheels operated by the New England School of Metalwork, a nonprofit professional education resource founded by Maine Oxy. Those conducting the demonstrations will include skilled instructors from Hypertherm, Bremer Industries and Pferd.

“Those who may be interested in starting or advancing professional careers in various branches of metalwork should find these demonstrations worth a closer look,” suggests Dereck Glaser, metalsmithing program director at the New England School of Metalwork.

The Classic Car Show & Welding Demonstrations will be held rain or shine, all vehicle makes and models will be welcome. Classic car registration for the show will be $5 and begin at 7:00 a.m.  Free balloons and door prizes will be distributed and concessions will be available at the event.  Alcoholic beverages, smoking and bicycles will not be permitted in the show area.

All proceeds and donations from the Classic Car Show will be contributed to Pine Tree Society serving children and adults with disabilities in Maine. Established in 1936, Pine Tree Society offers a full range of comprehensive and professional services to help Maine people with disabilities lead active, more socially connected lives.
