Camp Pine Cone is a day camp for children with physical and/or developmental disabilities, ages 5 to 12. The day camp takes place at Pine Tree Camp’s beautiful 285-acre barrier free facility on North Pond in Rome.

Camp Pine Cone is designed for children with disabilities who could benefit from a summer camp experience, but are not yet ready for overnight camp or who have special needs that make attending overnight camp a challenge.

Camp Pine Cone’s counselor to camper ratio is much lower than traditional day camps, a minimum of one staff to three campers. Children who require one-on-one support may attend with a parent or caregiver.

Our staff are special people who are committed to providing individualized support to each camper so that he or she fully participates in every activity.

Each day will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. The fee for the week-long camping session is $225. This fee includes all activities, a t-shirt and snacks. Campers are to bring bag lunches. Each session will close with a family social.

Applications for Camp Pine Cone will open February 27th.

2023 Camp Pine Cone sessions will be held:

  • July 24-July 28
  • July 31-August 4
  • August 7-August 11
  • August 14-August 18

Application & Eligibility

While Camp Pine Cone is able to accommodate almost any camper with a disability, there are several requirements that must be met before an applicant is accepted.

Every applicant must:

  • Have a disability
  • Be between the age of 5 and 12
  • Have the ability to participate in the program and interact with other campers
  • Not represent a physical danger to themselves or others

Applicants will receive a letter indicating that they have been accepted or that they have been placed on the waiting list. Camp Pine Cone campers are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
